Our cotton

Cotton fabrics are comfortable when it comes to softness which makes them perfect to wear directly on your skin. Cotton fibres are breathable and can absorb 20% of body moisture without feeling damp. Besides being strong, a cotton garment is an easy-to-care product that can last for years with the correct treatment.

We only source organic cotton for our unseasoned garments. Conventional cotton is known for high water consumption, chemical pesticides used during its production and the labour-intensive nature of the cultivation. The organic cotton yarns we use have the Global Organic Textile Standard, also known as GOTS, certificate. This standard stipulates requirements throughout the supply chain for ecological and labour conditions in textile and apparel manufacturing using organically produced raw materials.

Supima® and Upland Cotton

The organic cotton for our shirt is a blend of two types of American organic cotton: Supima® and Upland. The cotton is grown in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas and harvested by machine.

When it comes to cotton, size does matter. Fibre length is a crucial quality aspect and generally lies between 20mm and 40 mm. The longer the fibre, the finer it is and the softer its handle. Supima® is extra-long staple cotton with a staple length of 36 mm.
